Test Double has been named to Tugboat Institute’s inaugural Best Evergreen Companies list.
The list recognizes companies that exemplify excellence across the Evergreen 7Ps principles – purposeful, profitable, people first, paced growth, private, pragmatic innovation and perseverance.
The custom software consultancy is among 25 companies recognized, which includes some recognizable names like Edward Jones, Meijer, Radio Flyer and SAS Institute.
“To be mentioned in the same list as some of these amazing businesses, some who have been succeeding for over 100+ years and others who have shared books or other materials that were extremely influential on me and the way we've run Test Double is just amazing,” said Todd Kaufman, co-founder and CEO of Test Double.
“We're proud of the company that we're building and we feel a level of validation with the Evergreen list that some of our strongly held opinions are shared by other successful, everlasting organizations.”
Since 2013, Tugboat Institute has celebrated Evergreen leaders for their societal impact and business excellence.
Earlier this year, Test Double was named Certified Evergreen by the Tugboat Institute, a membership network of CEOs across industries who choose to lead private, purpose-driven companies without the intention of an exit.
The Certified Evergreen designation and this award are based on an extensive, rigorous assessment with the intention of continual improvement and enduring excellence around values, practices, and people.
The honorees of the first-ever Best Evergreen Companies list “continuously strive to improve while staying true to their purpose. … Their dedication to their business excellence is characterized by determination, patience, and an unwavering desire to improve,” Tugboat Institute said in a release.
Test Double was founded by software developers Todd Kaufman and Justin Searls in 2011, driven by their shared conviction that software could be better — simpler, higher quality, and more equitable.
The founders converted the business to a 100% owned ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) in 2020, wanting to share the equity with all employees contributing to the company’s success.
Test Double now has more than 115 agents and offers comprehensive end-to-end solutions in modern software creation and product management.
