Bridgecare is a childcare data management platform that helps governments understand and improve their child care ecosystems. It was facing significant challenges with their JavaScript and Vue-based app, which was divided into multiple silos for different user types.

The JavaScript tooling configurations led to slow build times in the automatic compiler, resulting in sluggish page load times. The presence of megabyte-sized JavaScript files exacerbated these issues, causing a major slowdown in day-to-day workflow management and severely limiting the use of automated testing to ensure quality.

The Fix

Our experienced software developer quickly identified that the root cause of the problem was in the app's configuration. The app's common code was being redundantly copied across multiple areas, leading to inefficiencies.

By adjusting the configuration settings, our developer consolidated the common code into a single shared bundle and created separate packages for the unique elements. These targeted changes effectively addressed the major causes of the slowdown, optimizing both build times and page load performance.
